Microplastics Linked to Serious Health Issues, Study Finds
A comprehensive review of 3,000 studies by researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, indicates that microplastics from discarded waste and tires, which contribute to air pollution, are associated with severe health problems, including infertility, colon cancer, and impaired lung function. While most studies focused on animal subjects, the findings are believed to also apply to humans exposed to similar environmental conditions. The production of plastics is projected to reach 1.1 billion tons by 2050, raising concerns about ongoing pollution.
