Children’s Health Ireland’s Spinal Surgery Unit has performed around 520 spinal surgeries this year, a record number including treatments for scoliosis and spina bifida. An initiative will see approximately 20 children receive surgeries in London or New York. The waiting list currently stands at 243, with ongoing efforts to reduce wait times through specialized clinics and early start times in surgery. A pilot project is expected to add 20 more procedures by the end of the year.
