Closure of Mosaqua Swimming Paradise in Gulpen After Christmas Holidays

Mosaqua, the largest swimming paradise in South Limburg, will permanently close after the Christmas holiday due to lack of financial support from the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem. Despite drawing over 200,000 visitors annually and efforts to secure funding, the municipality cited high operational costs and necessary maintenance as reasons for the closure. FNV union has expressed concerns over the loss of community facilities and jobs, as the closure will result in 25 full-time positions being eliminated. The likelihood of restarting operations appears slim as the municipality plans to demolish the facility in summer.
