Greek Police Granted Approval for Street Surveillance Cameras

The Hellenic Data Protection Authority has approved the installation of surveillance cameras by the Greek Police on public roads to deter and combat criminal activities and manage traffic in the Attica region. The Authority deemed that the study adequately addresses privacy risks and offered specific recommendations, including enhancing transparency, providing sufficient resources for data protection officers, defining minimal device specifications, and clarifying data anonymization processes for educational use.
