The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and partners have launched a detection tool to address online abuse targeting players, identifying around 12,000 abusive messages since January. The initiative, aimed at pursuing legal actions against offenders, has analyzed 2.5 million posts across multiple social media platforms. Notably, angry bettors represent a significant portion of the detected abuse. The collaboration between the ITF, Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Wimbledon, and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) reflects a serious commitment to tackling online harassment in the sport.
