New Research Reveals Stonehenge’s Ancient Origins and Construction Techniques

Recent findings suggest that the massive stones of Stonehenge were transported from northeastern Scotland to southern England around 5,000 years ago. This study, published in Archaeology International, proposes that the monument was reconstructed to unify ancient Britons during the arrival of new settlers from Europe. The research indicates that nearly half of the Neolithic individuals buried near Stonehenge came from outside the Salisbury Plain, contributing to a deeper understanding of prehistoric migration patterns and agricultural knowledge transfer.
