Norwegian Man Sentenced to Life for Murder of Police Officer in Thessaloniki
A 45-year-old Norwegian man was found guilty of premeditated murder and attempted murder for killing a police officer in Thessaloniki and attempting to shoot his friend a year ago. He received a life sentence plus 19 additional years. In court, he expressed remorse and claimed he was intoxicated during the incident, while a psychiatrist testified about his mental health issues. The prosecutor described the act as one of the most brutal murders encountered in her career, and the victim’s family felt justice was served as the defendant received no mitigating circumstances.
