A campaign group, Animal Rising, released footage showing severe welfare violations, prompting their departures. Both Packham and Lucas criticized the RSPCA for inadequate action and a failure to address deep-rooted issues within its assurance schemes. The RSPCA maintains it takes such allegations seriously and is implementing reforms to enhance animal welfare oversight.
