Significant Speeding Offences Detected in Ireland During National Slow Down Day
Over 1,200 motorists were caught speeding in Ireland last weekend, including one driver traveling at 150 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. During the National Slow Down Day, the Garda Síochána reported multiple severe violations, with 101 arrests for driving under the influence and nearly 200 vehicles seized. Since the start of the Christmas Enforcement Campaign, 590 drivers have been arrested for impaired driving, contributing to a troubling statistic of 170 road deaths in Ireland this year.
