Honda and Nissan are planning a merger to create a major automobile manufacturer in response to the growing competition from the Chinese automotive industry. This integration is intended to strengthen their position against rising Chinese electric vehicle producers such as BYD. Honda’s CEO Toshihiro Mibe emphasized the urgency of their strategy to counteract the ‘rise of Chinese power’ in the market, aiming for a competitive plan by 2030.
