The incident occurred during a heated discussion about a new asylum seekers’ center, where demonstrators opposed the plans. Although the councillors experienced temporary hearing damage and a police vehicle was damaged, no charges will be pressed. Mayor Harry de Vries deemed the incident unacceptable and emphasized the need for respectful political discourse.
