No Criminal Charges in Firework Incident Involving Montferland Councillors
The police and Public Prosecution Service have concluded their investigation into the firework attack on two councillors from Montferland, stating that they could not identify the perpetrator. The incident occurred during a heated discussion about a new asylum seekers’ center, where demonstrators opposed the plans. Although the councillors experienced temporary hearing damage and a police vehicle was damaged, no charges will be pressed. Mayor Harry de Vries deemed the incident unacceptable and emphasized the need for respectful political discourse.
