Swiss Doctors Reach Agreement on Emergency Fees After Court Ruling
Following a federal court ruling that limited emergency billing for general practitioners and pediatricians, a new agreement has been reached between the Swiss Health Insurance Association Prio.swiss and the Swiss Medical Association FMH. This resolution addresses the concerns of employed doctors who feared their ability to charge for emergency services was compromised. Although the ruling allows employed practitioners to bill emergency fees, the ‘urgency fee’ for less critical cases remains unregulated. This development presents a significant relief for healthcare providers across Switzerland, especially in rural areas.
