The cyclone Chido has severely impacted the regions of Mayotte and Mozambique, with a confirmed death toll of 35 in Mayotte and at least 120 in Mozambique. François-Xavier Bieuville, the prefect of Mayotte, updated reporters on the situation, clarifying the death toll amidst contrasting statements by Prime Minister François Bayrou. In response to the disaster, Manuel Valls has returned to the political scene as the Minister for Overseas Territories to address the crisis.
