A powerful explosion at a factory in Karesi, Balikesir province, Turkey, has resulted in at least twelve fatalities and three injuries. The blast was felt throughout the area and is reported to have originated from a site involved in the production of explosives. Local officials indicate that there is no evidence suggesting the explosion was intentional.
