Severe Snowfall and Avalanche Risk Disrupts Transportation in Switzerland

Heavy snowfall in Switzerland has severely impacted train services along key routes, particularly the Visp-Disentis line, due to avalanche risks and a train blockage. A three-part train composition became stuck in Tschamut, exacerbating disruptions. The Furka Tunnel auto transport has also been halted as routes are closed for safety. The Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research warns of significant avalanche danger across the Alps, particularly affecting the Valais, Bern, Uri, and Glarus cantons, leading to road closures and safety alerts.
