Commemoration of 1895 Lifeboat Tragedy in Dublin Bay

Scores of people gathered at Dun Laoghaire’s East Pier to commemorate the 1895 tragedy that claimed the lives of 15 RNLI volunteers during a severe storm. The lifeboat attempted to rescue the crew of the SS Palme, which was in distress. The event included a wreath-laying ceremony, music, and readings honoring the fallen crew members and recognizing the ongoing efforts of the RNLI.
