Reviving the Camel Tradition in Oinoi, Greece During Christmas
In Oinoi, Orestiada, the tradition of the Camel is being revived on the second day of Christmas, celebrated by refugees from Eastern Thrace. The festivities start with a blessing at the local church, followed by a procession through the streets and culminate in a traditional celebration with live music. Young locals prepare a wooden frame resembling a camel, adorned with various materials, and visit homes while mimicking the camel’s movements, bringing joy and health to the community.
