Syrian security forces initiated an operation against pro-Assad militias on December 26 in Tartous province, aiming to restore stability in the region following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad. The official agency Sana reported neutralizing several loyalists, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed three deaths among pro-regime fighters. The operation coincides with ongoing tensions in western Syria, where protests erupted following an attack on an Alawite mausoleum, and clashes in Khirbet al-Ma’zah resulted in the deaths of 14 security personnel.
