Tourist activity in the Thrace region of Greece has dropped by approximately 20% this holiday season compared to last year, as residents face economic hardships and rising travel costs. Takis Dolianitis, representative of the local tourism office association, highlighted that many are now opting for shorter, local trips instead of costly packages to destinations like Bucharest. This shift has led to increased visitors to local parks, providing a boost for local tourism operators. Despite these challenges, tourism agencies are still offering affordable travel packages to nearby cities.
