EU Mandates USB-C Charging Standard for Electronic Devices

Starting today, the European Union mandates that all new electronic devices sold must support charging via a USB-C cable. This law applies to smartphones, gaming consoles, headphones, speakers, e-readers, and tablets, while laptops have a compliance deadline of April 2026. This initiative aims to reduce the number of different charging cables and promote environmental sustainability. Historically, various charging standards existed, but an increasing number of devices now utilize USB-C, addressing the issue of cable clutter.
