Iranian Police Commander Killed in Suicide Bombing
A commander of the Iranian police was killed in a suicide bombing attack outside a police station in the southern city of Bandar-e-Lengeh, Hormozgan province. The perpetrator also died in the attack, which the Tasnim news agency labeled as ‘terroristic’. The incident is notable, as such attacks are rare in the region, which is approximately 1,000 kilometers from Tehran. Recently, a similar attack in Sistan-Baluchestan province resulted in the deaths of 10 police officers, claimed by a Sunni jihadist group. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for today’s attack.
