A foreign tourist has died and another was injured following a shark attack in the Red Sea near Egypt’s Marsa Alam region, as reported by Egypt’s Ministry of Environment. The exact nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed. The area has been cordoned off, and swimming will be prohibited for the next two days. Though shark appearances are not uncommon in the region, attacks on swimmers are rare. This incident follows a previous fatality involving a Russian tourist in June 2023, also in the Red Sea.
