Ukraine Faces Drone Attacks on New Year’s Day Amid Gas Transit Suspension

On New Year’s Day, Kyiv reported drone attacks from Russia, injuring three people and damaging buildings. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope for 2025 to be a year of peace while stating that Ukraine would do everything possible to end the Russian aggression. Concurrently, Russian gas supplies through Ukraine to Europe were halted following the expiration of the transit agreement.
