UK’s Largest Dinosaur Footprint Site Discovered in Oxfordshire Quarry
A significant dinosaur trackway site, featuring around 200 footprints dating back 166 million years, has been uncovered in a quarry in Oxfordshire. The footprints, believed to belong to the long-necked sauropod Cetiosaurus and the carnivorous Megalosaurus, provide remarkable insights into the dinosaurs’ movements. The discovery was made by quarry worker Gary Johnson and involved more than 100 scientists and volunteers during a summer excavation. The find reveals the prehistoric environment where these huge creatures roamed, preserved in the fossil record due to sedimentation events.
