Encouraging Results from Carbon Absorption Studies in Greece

Recent measurements in Thrace, Greece, highlight the positive impact of primary production on carbon dioxide absorption from the atmosphere. Spiros Rapsomanikis, director of the environmental unit at the Athena Research Center, revealed that studies conducted on kiwifruit and grapevine cultivation show a negative carbon footprint. He emphasized the need for this data to be included on product labels to facilitate international market access. Plans are underway to expand these measurements across Greece, contingent upon appropriate funding and support for farmers.
