Greek Central Bank Governor Predicts ECB Rate Cut by Fall 2025

Yannis Stournaras, the Governor of the Bank of Greece, reiterated that he expects the European Central Bank’s (ECB) key interest rate to decrease to around 2% by autumn 2025, down from the current 3%. He noted the ECB’s four reductions since June and remarked on the banking sector’s fees, emphasizing the necessity for banks to return profits to shareholders in the form of dividends even amidst ongoing financial challenges.
