Major Marine Pollution Exercise Held in Mytilini Port
On November 6th, a significant marine pollution response exercise took place at the commercial port of Mytilini. Organized by the Inter-Municipal Port Fund of Lesvos, it featured the use of floating barriers and pollution control equipment. This marked the 15th annual exercise in the region, with participation from volunteer groups, including the Greek Rescue Team’s Lesvos branch. Prior to the exercise, volunteers received theoretical training led by instructor Michalis Angelopoulos. Notable attendees included Mytilini Mayor Panagiotis Christofas and environmental department head Eleni Katotriadou.
