Severe Cold Weather Warning Issued Across Ireland

A Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning is now in effect across Ireland as the country braces for an extended cold snap following a mild Christmas. Met Éireann warns of widespread frost, hazardous travel conditions, and potential animal welfare issues, with temperatures expected to drop significantly below freezing. An Arctic air mass could bring significant snowfall, especially from this weekend into next week, with overnight lows possibly reaching -10C in some areas. The National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management is monitoring the situation closely.
