Finnish Court Rejects Request for Release of Oil Tanker Linked to Undersea Cable Damage
A Finnish court has rejected a request to release the oil tanker Eagle S, suspected of causing damage to the Estlink 2 electricity line and four telecommunications cables. The tanker, carrying Russian oil, was seized on December 26, following claims it dragged its anchor along the Baltic Sea floor, resulting in the damage. The lawyer representing the ship’s owning company, Caravella LLC FZ based in the UAE, sought the release of the vessel and its crew.
