Washington Post Cartoonist Resigns After Controversial Jeff Bezos Cartoon Rejected
Ann Telnaes, a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist for the Washington Post, has resigned after the newspaper refused to publish her cartoon satirizing its owner, Jeff Bezos, alongside Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman. The cartoon depicted these tech leaders kneeling before a statue of President-elect Donald Trump. Telnaes criticized the decision as a threat to free press and stated that it was the first time her work had been killed due to who she targeted. The paper’s editorial page editor, David Shipley, responded, asserting the decision was based on content repetition rather than ownership concerns.
