In an effort to combat anti-social behaviour on public transport, Gardaí have initiated Operation ‘Twin Tracks,’ patrolling various rail services across Ireland. This day of action is part of a collaboration with Iarnród Éireann and the National Transport Authority, targeting eight Intercity rail routes alongside DART and Luas services in Dublin. The initiative follows a call from the SIPTU union for a dedicated public transport police service, responding to increasing incidents of abuse and violence. Key stations and regional routes will see active patrolling to ensure passenger safety during this operation.
