Kostas Simitis, the former Prime Minister of Greece, has passed away at the age of 88. A public funeral will be held on January 9 at the Athens Metropolitan Cathedral, where tributes will be given by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis, among others. With a four-day national mourning declared, Simitis’s passing has prompted an examination of his legacy. He died unexpectedly in his sleep while vacationing in Agioi Theodoroi.
