Athens State Orchestra Presents Concert Featuring Works from Soviet Union
The Athens State Orchestra will perform pieces from 1973-1983, highlighting the transition period of the Soviet Union towards Perestroika. The concert includes Alfred Schnittke’s Viola Concerto, Dmitri Shostakovich’s Six Poems by Marina Tsvetaeva, and Schnittke’s Gogol Suite. Conducted by Nikos Vasiliou, the performance honors both the 90th anniversary of Schnittke and the 50th anniversary of Shostakovich’s death. Renowned soloists Ilia Sdoukos and Maria Katsoura will participate.
