Increased Vehicle Registration Fees in Several French Regions by 2025
Starting in 2025, vehicle registration costs will rise in seven metropolitan regions of France, including Normandy and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. The increase, driven by regional councils setting the tax rate based on the fiscal horsepower, sees Corsica’s rate jump from €27 to €43, marking a 59.3% rise. Critics argue that the hikes disproportionately affect rural areas where cars are vital for transportation. The maximum increase was noted in Normandy with a two-year rise of 72%.
