Italian Judiciary Council Rejects Nordio Bill on Separation of Judicial Careers

The Italian Judicial Council has decisively rejected the Nordio bill proposing the separation of careers between investigative and judging magistrates. The council’s plenum voted overwhelmingly, with 24 votes against the proposal, while only 4 supported it. Notably, all judicial councillors opposed the reform, with the exception of independent Andrea Mirenda who abstained. The proposal was presented by Felice Giuffrè from the Brothers of Italy party, but lacked substantial support from other political factions.
