Eight individuals have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from eight months to six years for defrauding 62 priests across France between 2020 and 2024, according to the Harve correctional court. The scammers posed as needy parishioners, extracting a total of €450,000 from their victims. Notably, one of the masterminds, 35-year-old Kévin G., orchestrated the scheme from prison, where he was already serving time for similar offenses. He and his twin brother, both seasoned criminals, were influenced by their father’s history of scamming elderly clergy.
