Hybrid Threats Linked to Russia Increasing in Europe, Investigative Report Reveals
An investigation by EBU’s Network of Investigative Journalists has uncovered a rise in hybrid threats linked to Russia across Europe, including sabotage, misinformation campaigns, and cyberattacks aimed at disrupting elections. Officials, including NATO’s James Appathurai and Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, noted a surge in Russian activities, with approximately 500 suspicious incidents reported in 2024 alone. The report highlights that many incidents remain under investigation, while experts warn that such threats may escalate, impacting the stability of societies and governments in Europe.
