Andrij Portnow, a close advisor to former pro-Russian Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in Madrid, Spain. Witnesses report he was shot multiple times outside a school after dropping off his children. Portnow served as deputy head of Yanukovych’s presidential office from 2010 to 2014 and was involved in controversial legislation during his tenure. Following accusations of treason and connections to Russia’s annexation of Crimea, he lived in several countries before being killed.
