France Launches Glass Bottle Deposit Scheme in June
France will launch a glass bottle deposit experiment on June 12, 2023, according to reports from Ouest-France. The deposit will be 10 cents for small containers and 20 cents for larger ones, covering four regions noted for their effective waste sorting: Brittany, Pays de la Loire, Normandy, and Hauts-de-France. Consumers can choose between a cash refund or a voucher, with bottle return options available at participating stores or through automatic machines. Initially limited to select beverages, the program aims for a gradual rollout and aims to enhance recycling efficiency.
