AI Artwork Fetches Record Price at Sotheby’s Auction
In a groundbreaking sale, a portrait by Ai-Da, the world’s first AI artist, sold for approximately €930,000 at Sotheby’s, far exceeding initial estimates of €110,000 to €165,000. The artwork, titled ‘A.I. God: Portrait of Alan Turing,’ reflects the ethical discussions surrounding AI through its muted colors and fragmented style, emblematic of Turing’s complex relationship with technology. Ai-Da, a robot created by gallery owner Aidan Meller and Oxford scientists, aims to spark dialogue about the societal implications of emerging technologies. The portrait is part of a series that also includes works featuring Ada Lovelace.
