Modern Retelling of Ariadne’s Myth Enchants Melbourne Audience

A groundbreaking reinterpretation of the ancient Greek myth of Ariadne is captivating theatergoers in Melbourne, directed by the talented Alkisti Pitsaki. Stepping away from the traditional focus on the Minotaur and Theseus, this production delves into Ariadne’s upbringing in Crete and her quest for freedom. Written in both English and Greek, it traces Ariadne’s personal labyrinth as she finds her voice and strength as a heroine. Inspired by the #metoo movement in Greece, the play is part of the Mother Tongues Festival and runs from November 22 to 24 at La Mama HQ.
