Human Remains of WWI Soldier Discovered in Belgium
In Diksmuide, Belgium, human bones believed to belong to a World War I soldier have been uncovered during dike construction along the IJzer River. The findings, confirmed by the Flemish Agency for Cultural Heritage, suggest the remains may be those of a Belgian soldier, distinct due to their relative scarcity compared to British, French, and German counterparts. Among the artifacts recovered was a soldier’s ring inscribed with a posthorn and the year 1915, alongside a button featuring the Belgian lion. Further investigations are underway before the remains are interred in a military cemetery.
