Police Cybersecurity Breach: Hackers Steal Data from Thousands of Officers
The Dutch police revealed details of a significant cyber breach where hackers gained access to data from nearly all of its 65,000 personnel. Utilizing stolen browser cookies, they were able to log into police systems and obtain a comprehensive address list used in Microsoft Outlook, which included personal information such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers. While the investigation continues, authorities suspect a foreign state may be involved, with speculation pointing towards Russia. The police have since enhanced their security measures to prevent future incidents.
