Cities Empower Homeless Migrant Workers with New Initiative
Six municipalities in the Netherlands have initiated a two-year pilot program to assist hundreds of homeless migrant workers in finding employment or returning to their home countries. With €7 million in funding, these cities—including Amsterdam and Eindhoven—are providing temporary housing and support to reduce the rising number of migrant homelessness. Success rates are promising, with 80% of participants either securing jobs or returning home. However, concerns linger about the program’s future financing, as government support is set to end next year. Officials stress the importance of ongoing funding to maintain these vital services.
