Rent Prices in Greece Soar at Alarming Rates

Rent prices in Greece are surging at more than three times the inflation rate, with a 6.5% annual increase and a staggering 10.4% rise over the past two years. Major urban centers, particularly in Attica, are particularly affected, with new leases experiencing hikes over 40%. The highest increases were seen in Petroupoli (41.1%) and Glyfada (25%). Experts cite urbanization, rising construction costs, and high taxation as primary drivers of these increases. While areas like Kifisia and Cholargos also see high rents, Kypseli remains one of the more affordable neighborhoods, with rents averaging around €8.75 per square meter.
