A recent cyber fraud case affecting a resident of Samos has been cracked by local authorities. A 27-year-old foreign national has been identified and charged with computer fraud after tricking the victim out of approximately €11,500. The scam involved an unknown individual, possibly a woman, who pretended to build a close personal relationship with the victim through social media before exploiting their trust. Investigations continue, with evidence suggesting the involvement of additional suspects and the transfer of stolen funds to the identified suspect’s bank account.
