The BBC has announced that Gary Lineker will conclude his role as host of Match of the Day at the end of the season but will continue his association with BBC Sport by hosting coverage of the FA Cup for 2025/2026 and the 2026 World Cup. Lineker expressed his gratitude for the ongoing collaboration with the BBC. He will also maintain his involvement in the MOTD Top Ten podcast and the popular Rest is Football podcast on BBC Sounds.
