Christodoulos Tofidis, the regional governor of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, has urged the Ministry of Rural Development to raise funding for the Agricultural Development Program. Currently, the region receives 50% support for funding applications, which lags behind the 65% support granted to regions such as Crete. Tofidis highlights that while regions affected by last year’s flooding, like Thessaly, may see increased support, there seems to be no political willingness to boost funding for Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, prompting his call for equity in agricultural investment.
