Swiss Budget 2025: Increased Military Spending and Cuts to Foreign Aid
Switzerland’s National Council Committee has outlined budget priorities for 2025, emphasizing increased funding for military and agriculture while proposing significant cuts to foreign aid and asylum. The committee’s recommendations, led by a center-right majority, call for an additional 530 million francs for defense and a 46 million franc boost for agricultural support. However, international cooperation could see a reduction of 250 million francs, and asylum services may be cut by 105 million francs. If approved, the budget will align closely with the country’s debt brake regulations.
