Paul Watson, the 73-year-old environmental activist, will be held in a Greenlandic jail until December 4, 2024, as authorities await Denmark’s decision on Japan’s extradition request. Watson was arrested on July 21 in Nuuk while en route to intercept a Japanese whaling factory vessel. This extradition stems from a 2010 case related to whale hunting. The Greenlandic court has scheduled a review of his detention for December 2, while the Danish Ministry of Justice has not indicated when it will announce its decision regarding the extradition.
